A GREYT FAMILY PET!
Gazer was adopted by a family in May along with another Greyhound. Due to a change in employment and move into an apartment out of the area, Gazer, due to his size only, has been returned to H.O.T. for rehoming.
His adoptive mom writes: Gazer is wonderful with kids, great on walks, loving and sweet. He is muzzle free all day, and crates perfectly in his kennel when we go to work, etc. (Giant size needed). He'll get in the bath tub easily with a treat for a bribe. Gazer's clue to let him out is when he comes and "pesters" us with his sad eyes. Gazer sleeps on our bed with us at night (a practice not encouraged by H.O.T.), but would be just as happy on his own bed on the floor. (Our other Greyhound usually claims the floor pillow first.) He curls up amazingly small on the bed, and we hardly notice he's up there. Gazer is still horrible with cats and is fast enough to catch them. Small dogs would probably be a bad idea around him as well. We've never tried to introduce him to small dogs, but he looks at them the same way he looks at cats. (not small critter safe). Gazer is wonderful in every other way, except that he is a total chow hound. If there is food left around, on counters, in trash cans, he will find it. We have been feeding him Nutro Lamb and Rice with no corn, he is doing wonderfully on that. A big 40# bag lasts about five weeks with him. He loves to be in the water in the summer.

She is a bit of an odd duck in that she prefers her own company to that of humans or dogs.

A REAL FUN GAL!
Anita started out her racing career in Massachusetts and then coming to the Corpus Christi Greyhound Dog Track. She was less than a stellar racer taking only six out of 55. Anita is sister to four other Greyhounds adopted through H.O.T., Bartley, Carol, Dabney, and Edie. Interesting enough, the personalities of each of these siblings have been different, but again quite similar. All the siblings are playful and loving when they get into a home, Anita tends to "play" shy, but she is more outgoing.
Anita is playful and loves to romp in the yard. At this point, she is showing more interest in her foster family's cats than we feel comfortable with, so we are listing her as not small critter safe. We will continue to monitor her on that front. Anita is a sweet loving gal who tends to go off by herself a bit more than most Greyhounds. She crates well and hasn't turned down a meal yet! She absolutely adores stuffies, and will play and chew until they are destuffed.
We feel that Anita would do well in most any family situation where there are no cats or small dogs. Medium or large size companion dogs should be fine.
